ILLUSTRATIONS OF VARZUUN: THE DIVINE STEED ALCEGON

In the Varzuun belief system, insects notwithstanding, six-legged animals (such as the Draken dragons) are revered as sacred, sent by Ānak to punish the evil and protect the righteous. This Destrier (heavy warhorse) is colossal even by warhorse standards: Towering nineteen hands high, it can exert its will over ordinary horses, even warhorses, and compel them to flee, fight or stand down. Alcegon is capable of swiftly and surefootedly covering almost any terrain including mud, snow, soft sand, loose rock and scree and even small rivers. The heroic knight Flavius can summon his magnificent steed Alcegon from heaven using a sacred talisman made for him by the Unicorn Oracle.
