Varzuun
Chilam, myth has it, was born at the age of ninety and grows younger every day - at least in his own mind. Chilam has been drawing and painting (and getting in trouble for it) since he was a very small child.
At about the age of eight, his parents let him stay up all night one night to watch a Star Trek© marathon, at which point he became a total Trekkie. Keep in mind, he often jokingly says, "a Trekkie is anyone who insists they are a Trekker, not a Trekkie."
The drawings started with air & spacecraft, both real and fictional, and quickly began to include spacecraft of Chilam's own design. Chilam's foray into the world of fantasy art and literature happened when he started playing Dungeons & Dragons™ as a teenager in 1981. That earned him several geek-points. He didn't let that bother him, though:
The Varzuun Saga was born out of some of his D & D adventures, as well as some of his real-life adventures.
He became a professional artist/illustrator in 1989. In 2009, Chilam earned a Bachelor of Science degree in astrophysics from the University of British Columbia.
In addition to Author/Artist/Illustrator, Chilam is a freelance contract consultant for both the aerospace industry and the world of fine wines.
Chilam is currently single and lives and works in New Westminster, BC Canada.
