STRONG, BEAUTIFUL, MAGICAL, INTELLIGENT:
Of all the sentient and semi-sentient races that inhabit Varzuun,
three have risen to prominence, sometimes vying for dominion, sometimes co-operating:

MVH-Bann
The ancient mystic land of VARZUUN is a marvelous realm of beauty and magic, populated by the mysterious magical Vaqlorii, the underearth-dwelling Maedar, and small enclaves of Humans.
Surviving in this rugged and austere land is a challenge at the best of times for these diverse peoples. They face numerous threats including the Smeddegs, the Smolleks, Dragons in the skies, and of course, the nightmarishly grotesque Abominations.

SCROLL DOWN and click the images outlined in PINK to view these and the other amazing and captivating inhabitants of Varzuun, in detail.

THE VAQLORII

Slim, beautiful and mysterious, the Vaqlorii are skilled practitioners of magic and lovers of the arcane arts. The Vaqlorii are a serene and gentle people, but they are also quite xenophobic and fiercely territorial.
The Vaqlorii have white skin with a slightly bluish hue, though there are rumours of an offshoot race with deep blue skin tones. Vaqlorii eyes have small irises of light purple, golden, or silver tones, though among practitioners of magic, the irises seem to disappear entirely, leaving white orbs with simply a tiny black pupil. Vaqlorii hair is long, straight, fine and usually stark white silver or platinum in tone, though some may have subtle bluish or pinkish highlights.

THE MAEDAR

Hulking, powerful and hauntingly mysterious, the Maedar dwell in the deep places of the World Beneath the World. The Maedar are generally amicable to humans, despite the humans' fear and mistrust of them.
The Maedar have grey colourless skin ranging from bone white to pitch black, but usually a medium (battleship) grey. Their eyes are usually steel grey to light blue.
As tall as humans, their long torsoes and short legs may make them appear dwarflike to some, giantlike to others, when first encountered, depending on the viewer. The Maedar, male and female alike, are completely bald. Some Maedar males may venture up to the surface world, but females never do.

The SMEDDEGS
and the SMOLLEKS

Smeddeg

Smolleks, the Maedar word for goblins, are no more than waist-high to a man because of their hunched and bent-legged stance. They resemble monkeys that had survived some sort of forest fire. Their mottled leathery skin looks like a mass of scar tissue with small tufts of randomly placed fur. Their large hooked noses and beady little yellow eyes gave their long faces a vulture-like appearance. Smolleks, when alone, are nothing more than cowardly little annoyances, not much in a fight, but when in packs, they are vicious marauders that can move with surprising speed.

The smeddegs are truly nasty monsters that would kill and eat humans if they can, but if they caught maybe just one person, they would torture him in hope that others would come back to rescue him and fall into their trap. They will flee a strong show of force but are nearly fearless. It would need to be a very strong show. Bigger and stronger than the smolleks, they are easily a match for a human, one-on-one.Smolleks, the Maedar word for goblins, are no more than waist-high to a man because of their hunched and bent-legged stance. The OUBLIONS,
or The Forgotten Ones

Moon-Drew Placeholder

Every now and then, on a storyteller's night, it is said, "A long, long time ago, when the world was young, before the race of man came upon Varzuun, before the Vaqlorii, before the Maedar, all Varzuun was a very peaceful pastoral and beautiful land, free of dangerous places, free of wars, free of the Abominations. In this old Varzuun, there was an ancient race whose name no one now remembers, whose name was washed from all living memory, a race that had long passed into the realm of myth, now know only as the Oublions, the forgotten ones." Were they just a myth? A twice-told tale of Bardic lore? Or did they really exist?
The DENIZENS of the SERUNCIL FOREST
The viDRUIDS and their Commune

MoonDrew

The mysterious, beautiful, and ever-changing Seruncil Forest is a home to many strange creatures such as the Fae and their Queen, Thiassi. Also hidden somewhere deep within this continuously shifting and moving wood is the very well-hidden lair of The Unicorn Oracle.
The SECONIDS
and the CARPONIDS

Seconid Staff

The mysterious and sinister dwellers of the deepest reaches of Suternia, they are the nemisis of the Maedar.

Few Humans or Vaqlorii know what the Seconids and Carponids actually look like, but here is shown an ancient weapon of arcane power popular among the Seconids, et al.
The ENTOMONS

Sentient Insect

Intelligent insectoid beings that have a mastery of science and a weird but thriving culture.
